200 years ago, Fryderyk Chopin was born in Poland, as the son of a Polish mother and a French inmigrant. He was virtuoso pianist and composer, and one of the greatest masters in Romantic music.
The Fundacion Chopiniana organises a piano festival in Palacio Paz. A total of 9 concerts are given by 9 different pianists of different countries, they all play something by Chopin, and (depending on the program) works by Brahms, Liszt, Mozart and others.
Palacio Paz used to be a –gigantic- private house, and the concerts are given in the ‘small’ concert hall. It is really a very nice place to listen to a piano concert like this. For all Piano lovers in Buenos Aires is it something not to be missed.
I went to see the Argentine Emilano Turchetta play the Mozart, Liszt, Chopin, Brahms and Williams (I didn’t really like the last one). It was a great concert, and it asks for more…
The next ones are :
22th of sept Tomás Alegre (Argentina) plays Mozart and Debussy
29th of sept Martín Kasik (Checa) plays Chopin, and Rachmaninoff
6th of oct Slawomir Dobrzanski (Polish) plays Van Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev and Gottschalk
13th of oct Miceal O’Rourke (Irish) plays Field, Chopin and Mussorgsky,
20th of oct Goran Filipec (Croacia) plays Van Beethoven, Chopin, Ginastera and Liszt
27th of oct Martha Noguera (Argentina) plays Mozart, Liszt, Chopin and Prokofiev
3th of nov Konstantin Scherbakov (Russian) plays Scarlatti, Haydn, Bach, Busoni, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Verdi, Gounod and Liszt.
The tickets can be bought in the Palacio Paz (Santa Fe 750) every day between 1pm and 7pm and range between 100$ and 60$.

Should be 200 years ago. 2010 is Chopin bicentenary year.
Of course, you are right! Thanks!
[…] Chopinana festival is back. 8 Piano concerts in Palacio Paz with music composed by Chopin and others, played by musicians from all over the world. If you are not a real big fan of Chopin, it is still worth attending at least one concert, as it is given in the ball room of Palacio Paz, one of the most beautiful (ex-) private houses in Buenos Aires.
